Florida Atlantic quarterback Rusty Smith grabbed this week's USA TODAY's Player of the Week honor with an impressive performance against Minnesota. Smith had five touchdown passes and threw for 463 yards to help the Owls from the Sun Belt Conference upset Minnesota 42-39. The senior won the award with the unanimous support of the fan balloting, college football editor Erick Smith and Gannett News Service columnist Mike Lopresti.

Matt Ryan Boston College's quarterback has the fans in Chestnut Hill thinking Doug Flutie after going 30-of-45 for 435 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 24-10 win at Georgia Tech.

Tim Tebow Florida's sophomore dual-threat signal caller threw for 299 yards, two touchdowns and a pick while gaining 61 yards and two more scores on the ground in the Gators' 59-20 knockdown of Tennessee.

FIVE WHO MISSED THE CUT

Alex Brink Washington State's quarterback went 26-of-36 for 307 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in the Cougars' 45-28 win over Idaho.

Tommy Grady Utah's quarterback executed the Utes' offense to the 44-6 upset over UCLA. Grady went 17-of-30 for 246 yards and three touchdowns.

Mike Hart Michigan's running back came through with his guaranteed win as he rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns on 35 carries as the Wolverines defeated Notre Dame 38-0.

P.J. Hill Wisconsin's workhorse rusher scored four touchdowns on 168 yards rushing off 25 touches as the Badgers downed The Citadel 45-31.

Kellen Lewis Indiana's quarterback accumulated 336 total yards (137 passing yards and 199 rushing yards) and five total touchdowns in the Hoosiers' 41-24 defeat of Akron.
