Florida Atlantic freshman right tackle John Rizzo received extensive game action for the first time last week against Louisiana-Monroe.

It may have been a good thing, because injuries will force Rizzo into the lineup for Saturday's game at No. 24 Louisville.

Starting right tackle Antes Perkins is questionable with a left shoulder sprain and his backup, Zach Wichner, is doubtful with an ankle sprain making Rizzo the best alternative.

"He's played well for a kid who hasn't had much practice with the starting unit," FAU coach Howard Schnellenberger said. The 6-foot-3, 255-pound walk-on true freshman is certain to draw the assignment of stopping Cardinals defensive end Elvis Dumervil, who set an NCAA record with nine sacks in consecutive games.

"If I can play against these boys, I can play with anybody," Rizzo said.
